Martin Foundation Scholarship Requirements

TEXAS or LOUISIANA

Employees:

• Employee must be a full-time employee and must be employed for a minimum

of 6 months. Any employee that works 30 or more hours per week is considered

to be a full-time employee.

• The degree pursued must be directly related to their current position or future

position. Approval by their supervisor is required for them to be eligible. The

scholarships are available for undergraduate degrees only.

• The employee must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 per semester. If their GPA

is below 2.75, the employee is not eligible for the following semester for

scholarship funds. They may then reapply after not receiving funds for 1

semester.

• The scholarship funds will cover employee tuition for up to $2000 per semester.

• Online degree programs through accredited state universities (such as LSUA) are

covered through the scholarship program. The same scholarship funds

described above will apply per 7-week on-line program.

Employee Dependents: (children only; no spouses)

• The student must be a dependent of the parent working full-time for Martin

Sustainable Resources. A dependent is a child 24 years old or younger who is not

married and still listed on the parent’s tax return form.

• The school must be a public college/university or technical college within

Louisiana. Acceptance of the student by the school will allow for initial eligibility

for this scholarship. Louisiana Christian University (LCU) is the only private

university supported by the Martin Foundation at this time.

• The scholarships are available for undergraduate degrees only and may be any

field of choice. The length of time is 10 semesters or 15 quarters.

• The student must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA. They must re-apply once a

minimum 2.75 GPA is obtained. The scholarship recipients must be registered

and remain registered as full-time students (as defined by the college/university)

for the semesters/quarters they receive a scholarship. If a student drops below

status of a full-time student, they will have to sit out one semester/quarter and

also be registered as a full-time student again in order to re-apply for

scholarship funds.

• The employee must have been employed a minimum of 6 months before the

dependent is eligible for a scholarship. The dependent must be claimed on the

employee’s tax return. The scholarship offer would cease at the end of the

current semester/quarter if the employee is terminated or leaves Martin

Sustainable Resources.

• The amount of scholarship shall be UP TO $2000 per semester for off-campus

students and UP TO $4000 per semester for on-campus students, or UP TO

2

$2000 per quarter for off-campus and UP TO $3000 per quarter for on-campus

students. This applies to LCU as well.

• Summer classes are eligible for scholarship funds but will expend 1 semester of

eligibility. Students are eligible for UP TO $2000 for the summer semester.

NOTE: Martin Foundation scholarships are applied LAST after all other scholarships

and grants (including TOPS) are applied. Thus, scholarship funds vary among each

student. No refunds are given to students and students cannot be reimbursed from

the Martin Foundation for funds paid out of pocket.

Application Process

Once it has been determined that the applicant meets the above criteria, the following

information must be submitted to Martin Foundation Scholarships via e-mail at

Scholarships@royomartin.com. For summer semester, applications must be received

no later than May 1; for fall semester, applications must be received no later than July

1; for spring semester, applications must be received no later than December 1; for on-

line classes, applications must be received no later than the school’s application

deadline. Once an applicant applies and has been accepted into the scholarship

program, the student does not need to re-apply for the scholarship each semester. As

long the student maintains a 2.75 GPA and full-time status, the scholarship will

automatically carry over each semester until the student graduates or has attended the

college/university for 10 semesters or 15 quarters, whichever occurs first. Students are

responsible for maintaining their profile information on the Scholarships link which they

will be provided with once their application has been received.

Students will be held responsible for the following information in order to maintain their

eligibility for continuing scholarship awards:

1) Notification of their grades within thirty days of the last day of each

semester/quarter.

2) Notification of plans to continue enrollment for the next upcoming and/or

summer semester/quarter.

3) Notification of switching schools.

4) Notification of moving on/off campus by posting their school mailing

address; and

5) Notification of graduation/completion.
